Time for Assad to change the code on his luggage

So it turns out that members of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s staff have been using the password “12345” for many of their internal email accounts as reported by Haaretz.

For those of you unfamiliar with the movie Spaceballs, the Star Wars parody involves a devious plot by Planet Spaceballs to steal the password combination which protects Planet Druidia’s precious atmosphere.

After Dark Helmet and Colonel Sandurz extort the astoundingly simple combination from a planet official, Helmet comments: “1-2-3-4-5? That’s the stupidest combination I’ve ever heard of in my life! That’s the kinda thing an idiot would have on his luggage!”

Later in the same scene, when they tell the password to the president of Planet Spaceballs, he replies, “1, 2, 3, 4, 5? That’s amazing! I’ve got the same combination on my luggage!” A great, short clip is embedded below.

Whether President Assad will be in need of his luggage in the near future is not something for us to comment on.
