AWS & 1Password: New integrations help strengthen security

Micah Neidhart by Micah Neidhart on

When the tools in your security stack work together, it reduces administration overhead, lowers costs, and increases protection across your organization. That’s why we’ve spent the last year deepening our partnership and product integrations with AWS and other security providers in their ecosystem.

AWS customers can buy 1Password Enterprise Password Manager and 1Password ® Extended Access Management via the AWS Marketplace to streamline procurement and billing. We’ve also rolled out a host of new product integrations that help our mutual customers enhance security and productivity.

In this blog post, we’ll highlight these integrations and explain some ways we’re collaborating with AWS and other partners to better serve your security needs.

Deepening product integrations

Launching new solutions like Extended Access Management and Passage has given us exciting new opportunities to integrate with AWS. Here are some of our latest updates:

1Password Device Trust health checks

Device Trust uses health checks to ensure every device accessing your organization’s sensitive data is known and secure. For AWS customers, we offer a pre-built check that scans devices for unencrypted AWS credential files and prompts users to secure them. Over 500 organizations already use this integration to proactively secure their AWS data.

Device Trust’s Log Pipeline also integrates with AWS S3, exporting authentication and audit logs directly into the AWS ecosystem. This gives organizations the power to analyze security data using AWS’s extensive analytics tools, providing a more comprehensive understanding of their security posture and helping identify potential risks.

Passkeys for Amazon Cognito

Passage by 1Password offers a secure, passwordless authentication solution for apps and websites that simplifies the login experience using passkeys. With our new integration for Amazon Cognito, Passage allows businesses relying on Cognito for authentication to adopt passkey technology without the complexities of in-house development. This integration brings the simplicity and security of passwordless logins to the Cognito ecosystem, allowing organizations to offer biometric sign-ins, phishing-resistant security, and more for their users.

Confidential computing with AWS Nitro Enclaves

By leveraging AWS Nitro Enclaves, 1Password enables administrators to gain insight into application usage across the organization, all while maintaining data privacy. This technology lets admins securely view app usage metrics without exposing sensitive information. 1Password’s Confidential Computing team will share more about this innovation at AWS re:Invent 2024, offering a closer look at how we use confidential computing to support secure and private access insights.

AWS AppFabric integration

AWS AppFabric integrates with 1Password Business to improve security management by centralizing log data, allowing Security and IT teams to monitor and secure user access across multiple apps more effectively. Connecting the two allows AppFabric to collect and standardize logs from 1Password — such as login attempts, vault accesses, and other critical actions — and direct this information to centralized security tools like Splunk or Rapid7. This streamlined approach helps organizations gain real-time visibility into access patterns, making it easier to detect and respond to potential security threats.

AWS partner ecosystem

In addition to working with AWS directly, we’re teaming up with AWS partners to broaden our mutual impact and improve security for our customers.

Pulumi

Pulumi recently built an integration between 1Password and their new secrets management and orchestration solution in response to requests from mutual customers. They were one of the first technology partners to participate in our 1Password SDK beta.

CrowdStrike

1Password is continuing to deepen our partnership with CrowdStrike through a reselling agreement and new product integrations. 1Password Device Trust now offers health checks to ensure the CrowdStrike Falcon agent is installed and running on each device and that individuals achieve a minimum CrowdStrike Zero Trust Assessment score before logging into company apps and resources. You can also easily stream logs and OSQuery data from Device Trust directly into your CrowdStrike Falcon platform.

Looking to the future

Through our growing partnerships with AWS and other organizations in their ecosystem, we’re building a future where security and productivity go hand in hand. This work reflects 1Password’s dedication to making security effective and easy to manage, keeping customers’ data safe while empowering their teams to work without interruption.

We invite you to connect with us at AWS re:Invent 2024. Visit our booth #792 and join sessions led by our engineers to see firsthand how 1Password’s deepening relationship with AWS is helping build a safer, more productive digital environment for our customers.
