If you haven’t heard the news, 1Password is now the Exclusive Cybersecurity Partner of Oracle Red Bull Racing.

Here at 1Password, we’ve long been fans of Formula 1® and the guts, passion, and engineering excellence that goes into winning a championship. Our team is thrilled by the opportunity to help Oracle Red Bull Racing provide trusted access to its critical systems and software, boosting productivity while strengthening its security posture.

We sat down with Melton Littlepage, 1Password’s Chief Marketing Officer and a Formula 1® superfan, to learn more about the partnership with Oracle Red Bull Racing and what you can expect to see on and off the track this season.

Q: Tell us about what 1Password is announcing today.

Melton Littlepage: Formula 1® is the pinnacle of motorsports. It’s also the sport with the biggest secrets to keep – every team’s research, engineering, testing, and on-track performance data can make all the difference between being on pole and starting from the back of the grid.

I’m thrilled to share that 1Password is now the Exclusive Cybersecurity Partner of Oracle Red Bull Racing. Central to the partnership is Oracle Red Bull Racing’s implementation of 1Password Extended Access Management, which will be used across its organization to help safeguard its data and secrets. 1Password will ensure that every sign-in to every Oracle Red Bull Racing application from every device is trusted and secure.

1Password has also partnered with the Red Bull Racing Pepe Jeans Academy Programme in F1® Academy to champion the next generation of female racing talent.

Q: Will we see the 1Password logo on Oracle Red Bull Racing’s car this year?

ML: Yes! The 1Password logo will be visible on the Formula 1® cars driven by Max Verstappen and Liam Lawson. That includes on the car’s body, inside the protective halo above the drivers’ heads, and on the steering wheel digital display during its start-up sequence - a first for the team. I can’t wait to see our logo pop up the first time Max and Liam start their cars!

You’ll also see our branding on the driver and pit crew suits, the Team kit, and the various screens dotted around the garage that travel from race to race.

Q: What do you love the most about Formula 1®?

ML: Formula 1® is a unique blend of courage, skill, technology, and culture. Oracle Red Bull Racing has built a culture of winning by:

  • Assembling some of the most innovative engineers and designers in Formula 1®.
  • Building an exceptional pipeline of talent that has led to one of the fastest driver line-ups on the grid.
  • Leading the forefront of innovation with key technical partners.
  • Bringing it all together as one of the most successful teams in the paddock.

At 1Password, we also strive to win and focus intensely on culture, innovation, talent, partnerships, and teamwork to outperform our competitors.

Q: What was your favorite moment from last year’s Formula 1® season?

ML: It has to be Max Verstappen’s win at the 2024 SĂŁo Paulo Grand Prix. The defending world champion started the race in 17th with slim chance of finishing on the podium. At the time, rival Lando Norris, who was narrowing the points gap at the top of the drivers’ championship, was starting from the front. Max then roared through the rain, advancing through the field with heart-stopping overtakes and a smart tire change under a red flag. He drove away from the field and, even when the win was all but assured, kept pushing himself to the limit through every turn all the way to the finish. It was an exceptional drive that again proved why Max is one of the greatest drivers in Formula 1®’s amazing history.

Q: What security challenges do Oracle Red Bull Racing and other Formula 1® teams face?

ML: For Oracle Red Bull Racing, nothing is more precious than the intellectual property associated with its cars. To strengthen its security posture and safeguard its proprietary car designs, the team must ensure every sign-in to every app from every device is trusted and secure.

Oracle Red Bull Racing houses a large workforce at its campus and a 150-strong race team that travels to 24 locations throughout the year. The organization also operates a complex network of in-house-developed software and systems across a hybrid environment, spanning both the track and factory.

1Password is uniquely positioned to help Oracle Red Bull Racing tackle these challenges. With 1Password Extended Access Management, the team can ensure secure, trusted access to applications and devices without compromising performance or productivity.

Q: For anyone not familiar, what’s 1Password Extended Access Management?

ML: Work has changed. We no longer live in a world where every employee is required to go into an office and security is managed by on-premise solutions.

Oracle Red Bull Racing exemplifies this. The organization has a distributed workforce that uses a mixture of devices and applications from its campus in Milton Keynes to The Paddock on race day. These are vital for the team to design, manufacture, and test its cars and analyze over 1.5 terabytes of data each race weekend. Traditional security tools simply aren’t built for this performance and productivity-first way of working.

Enter 1Password Extended Access Management, which ensures that every identity is authentic, every application sign-on is secure, and every device is healthy. It’s the only solution that will provide organizations like Oracle Red Bull Racing with trusted access to apps from any device in today’s SaaS-centric work environment.

1Password’s platform empowers IT and security leaders to reduce risks, simplify compliance, and boost team productivity. Whether managing MDM-enrolled or BYOD environments, ensuring secure and compliant access is critical for protecting sensitive data and maintaining normal operations. 1Password Extended Access Management also goes beyond MDM and traditional IAM tools by verifying that all access to all applications — whether from managed or BYO devices — is secure and trusted.

Q: How can Oracle Red Bull Racing use 1Password Extended Access Management to ensure trusted access to applications?

ML: With 1Password Extended Access Management, Oracle Red Bull Racing will have the ability to secure access to managed applications. Our platform provides visibility into what team members are using and helps IT and security leaders ensure they’re being accessed securely from trusted devices.

Team members, meanwhile, can gain the flexibility needed to innovate, optimize, and compete at the highest level, both on and off the track, without sacrificing security.

1Password Extended Access Management will give Oracle Red Bull Racing the capability to ensure that all software – not just the tools behind a single sign-on solution – is known and accessed securely. That’s critical for the team to continue working with confidence and stay focused on winning, whether at HQ or traveling around the world.

Q: How will Oracle Red Bull Racing use 1Password to create a culture of security at work and home?

ML: 1Password Extended Access Management comes with free 1Password Families membership for all team members. It’s an important part of our offering that helps IT and security teams build a strong culture of security across their organizations.

With 1Password Families, Oracle Red Bull Racing staff will be able to use our market-leading password manager to secure everything in their work and personal lives. It’s a powerful way to accelerate adoption and help everyone practice good security habits daily. The result? A more security-conscious organization that acts as an extension of the IT team, following best practices and encouraging others to do the same.

Q: How is 1Password supporting the Red Bull Racing Pepe Jeans Academy Programme?

ML: 1Password and the Red Bull Racing Pepe Jeans Academy Programme will collaborate to champion the next wave of racing talent in F1® Academy. Our team will support the Red Bull Academy Programme to ensure that upcoming drivers, engineers, and motorsport industry leaders have the mentorship, tools, and coaching they need to succeed.

As part of the partnership, we’ll support Alisha Palmowski, an 18-year-old who is the Red Bull Racing Pepe Jeans Academy Programme driver, as she pursues race wins and championship glory.

Q: Can you share anything else we have planned with the team?

ML: We’re working on exciting projects with Oracle Red Bull Racing’s drivers and security leaders. Subscribe to our business newsletter to learn about everything that’s happening at 1Password, including our partnership with Oracle Red Bull Racing.
