Technology skills are essential for thriving in today’s fast-paced digital world and for shaping its future. At 1Password, we have a vision to build a safer, simpler digital world for everyone.
During October Cybersecurity Awareness Month, we gave back to communities by donating $100,000 USD to six organizations working to ensure that the next generation has access to the technology education, digital literacy, and online safety skills they need.
It’s one of the many ways we are helping communities through our 1Password for Good efforts, including launching a cybersecurity guide for parents with the Family Online Safety Institute.
The organizations we are supporting are:

Actua
Actua is a leading Canadian organization unlocking the infinite potential of youth through STEM. Together with a national network of universities and colleges, Actua engages youth from all corners of the country in transformational STEM learning experiences that build critical employability skills and confidence. They do this while working relentlessly to remove barriers to youth engagement by addressing inequities on the ground and at a systems level. The result is that they are widening pathways to STEM education and careers and ensuring the skills and confidence of youth are built today, barrier-free, in preparation for tomorrow.
“Preparing young Canadians to lead in an AI-driven world means giving them the skills to stay smart, safe, and confident online. We’re proud to have the support of 1Password to help power our network across the country, ensuring the next generation is not only AI-ready, but ready to lead Canada in the digital age.” - Jennifer Flanagan, CEO, Actua

Childnet
Childnet is a UK children’s online safety charity that has been working for the past 30 years to help make the internet a safe and positive place for children. Working directly on the ground with children of all ages and those who support them, they aim to give young people the information and skills they need to look after themselves and others online and to get the most out of this technology. They also work to ensure youth voice is central to both our education and policy work, including through Safer Internet Day, the UK’s largest online safety awareness-raising campaign.
“This support from 1Password will be a great help as we work to support children and young people in their lives online. It is vital for us to be able to respond to issues as they arise in the context of a fast-changing technological landscape, ensuring we include young people’s voices in this work.” - Will Gardner, CEO, Childnet

Digital Moment
This is our second year partnering with Digital Moment, recognized as a leader in digital and AI literacy education in Canada. Digital Moment is dedicated to mobilizing communities to create a better future aligned with sustainable development goals. They are committed to providing inclusive and equitable access to these opportunities, with a focus on underrepresented youth, including girls. Since 2013, they have empowered educators, inspired youth, and delivered impactful programs and experiences across Canada. 1Password employees have supported Digital Moment by reviewing their cybersecurity curriculum this year.
“Partnering again with 1Password for this Cybersecurity Awareness Month was a natural fit, given our shared mission of building a safer, simpler digital future. Their generous contribution directly strengthens Digital Moment’s cybersecurity programming and helped us reach over 4,000 Canadian youth and educators with essential digital safety training in the last year. We believe that investing in digital literacy and foundational skills is essential to achieving collective online safety for all.” - Indra Kubicek, CEO, Digital Moment
Mission Bit
We are excited to partner with Mission Bit for a second year in a row. This past year, 1Password employees volunteered with Mission Bit students, providing mentorship and coding expertise during their Week of Code, and taught an online safety workshop. Mission Bit inspires youth to explore STEM through project-based computer science education. Through innovative programming and a commitment to inclusivity, this US-based organization is transforming students' lives and shaping the future of the tech industry.
“We’re thankful for 1Password’s continued support of Mission Bit. In the tech capital of the world, many of our youth still face barriers to being exposed to new technologies and foundational computer science skills. They also need career exploration opportunities that allow them to envision themselves in a future powered by technology. 1Password’s support makes it possible for us to continue providing free, high-quality programs. Their volunteerism has also been invaluable in helping our students learn about online safety and explore future career pathways. With their partnership, we’re building pathways to brighter futures for our students. - Christina Ortega, CEO, Mission Bit

Visions of Science
Visions of Science exists to transform society, communities, and the planet by ensuring equitable access to STEM. Since 2004, they have engaged more than 20,000 Black and racialized youth from low-income communities in the Greater Toronto Area through transformative STEM learning experiences that foster leadership, resilience, and a sense of belonging. Through long-term, community-rooted programming, they challenge systemic barriers, nurture curiosity, and empower the next generation of innovators, change-makers, and problem solvers.
“We are proud to partner with 1Password in advancing our mission to create equitable access to STEM education. Their generous support during Cybersecurity Awareness Month highlights the critical role of digital safety and literacy in preparing youth for the future workforce. Together, we are empowering the next generation with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital world.” - Eugenia Duodu Addy, Ph.D., CEO, Visions of Science

Team4Tech
Non-profit organizations provide vital services to our communities and need internal cybersecurity processes just as for-profit businesses do. Earlier this month, 20 of our employees provided 80 hours of pro bono support to a Nicaraguan nonprofit partner of Team4Tech through a Design for Impact workshop. Employees worked together using design thinking to improve the nonprofit’s internal cybersecurity practices.
We’re thrilled to work with these nonprofits and make a difference in communities all over the world. By choosing 1Password, you are helping us continue to make a positive impact.
